Access databases are ideal tools for tracking large volumes of related information in an easy-to-use graphical format. Intended for people with little or no experience using Access, this module introduces database terminology and relationships concepts. Participants will create Access objects such as tables and queries as well as simple forms and reports.
What You Should Already Know
You should have already completed Excel 2016: The Basics or have the equivalent skills. Specifically, you should be able to:
- structure data in a spreadsheet
- navigate in a spreadsheet
- enter and modify data
- identify and use number and text formats
What You Will Learn
This module introduces database relational concepts and provides hands-on practice on how to:
- open a database
- create, design, and modify tables to hold data
- enter, edit, and delete data
- import data from an Excel spreadsheet
- create and use select queries
- define relationships between tables
- create a simple relational form
- create a simple report
What You Will Need to Use These Materials
To complete this module successfully, you will need:
- Microsoft Access 2016
- Microsoft Excel 2016
- the exercise files, which will be in the upper right corner of the page if they are required
