In addition to being a powerful application for organizing and manipulating data, Excel also features advanced charting and graphics tools that all you to represent your data in engaging and meaningful ways. This module will cover the basics of how to create and format different types of charts, how to create a chart template, and different ways to incorporate Excel charts into PowerPoint slides.
What You Should Already Know
You should have taken Excel 2016: The Basics or have the equivalent skills. Specifically, you should already know how to:
- enter text and numbers into a worksheet
- perform calculations with formulas and functions
- format cells and worksheets
- select ranges of data
What You Will Learn
This module introduces the fundamental knowledge and skills required to create effective and accurate charts using Excel. In this workshop, you will:
- understand and use Excel's charting terminology
- select appropriate chart types for a specific set of data
- create basic chart types, including column, pie, line, and bar charts
- create a scatter chart and add a trendline and equation
- apply custom formats to charts and chart elements
- save and apply a chart template
- add graphics to charts
- apply themes to charts
- insert Excel charts into a PowerPoint presentation
What You Will Need to Use These Materials
To complete this module successfully, you will need:
- Microsoft Excel 2016
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2016
- the exercise files, which will be located in the upper right of corner of the page if they are required
