When working in Google Slides, it may be helpful to link to external web pages, slides within the current presentation, or even other items in Google Drive. The Insert Link tool makes this easy.
Copying the practice presentation
If you are beginning this course at this point, you will need to copy the presentation to your Google Drive.
NOTE: If you have been working through the course, your file should be up to date and you will not need to copy the practice presentation. You can move ahead to Inserting a hyperlink.
- To begin copying the practice presentation, click the following button:
The file begins to open in your web browser. Before the presentation will open and can be edited, we need to make a copy of it.
- To copy the presentation file,
A copy of the file is now open and, by default, is saved in your Google Drive. The filename now has the words "Copy of" at the beginning.
Inserting a hyperlink
When working in Google Slides, it may be helpful to link to external web pages, slides within the current presentation, or even other items in Google Drive. The Insert Link dialog box makes this easy. This dialog box gives several options and suggestions for what you may want to link to: slides in this presentation, suggested web sites, and related items in your Google Drive. For this lesson, we're going to link to a specific web page.
- To select the text "Link to Google Slides,"
Press & Drag the text
- To open the Insert Link dialog box, on the toolbar,
- To link the text to the correct web page, in the Link field, type:
http://slides.google.com, press: Enter key
The text "Link to Google Slides" is now a link to the sign-in page for Google Slides.
