We can apply the color in various strengths to more elements in our publication, including shapes, lines, borders, and type. Accordingly, the nameplate text would be more attractive in a color. We will match the text color with the color of the text frame at the bottom of page 1.
In order to go back to the nameplate and apply it to the text, we need to return to the A-Cover Page master.
Step1. To return to A-Cover Page master, in the Pages panel,
Step2. To activate the Selection tool, in the Tools panel, if necessary,
Step3. To select the large "Classroom Technology Today" text frame,
Click the nameplate, "Classroom Technology Today"
Step4. To open the Swatches panel, in the panel group,
Step5. To indicate that we will be working with the text within the frame, in the Swatches panel,
Step6. To apply the deep red color, in the Swatches panel,
scroll down, then Click
NOTE: We are using the default swatches today. If another color is desired, to create a new swatch from the Swatches panel Options button. Click,Click New Color Swatch.
Step7. To return to the Pages panel, press:
Step8. To undock the Pages panel,
Press & Drag out over the document page
Step9. To return to the document pages, in the Pages panel,
Step10. Save the document.
Using Ruler Guides
We will want to reuse the "In this issue" text frame again, so we will put it on the A-Cover Page master. Before we move this object from the first page to the master, we will use a guide to help us to position it in the same place relative to the margins.
We will drag a non-printing line from the ruler to anywhere on the document to help us to align objects. First need to make sure to View the Ruler.
Step1. To view the Ruler, on the Menu bar, if necessary,
Click View, Click Show Rulers
Step2. Configure the ruler for Inches if necessary.
Step3. To create a Ruler Guide,
Press & Drag from inside the horizontal ruler downward until it touches the top of the "In the issue" frame
Step4. To copy the Ruler Guide, with the Selection tool,
Right-Click the Ruler Guide, Click Copy
NOTE: To make sure you are able to select the guide, Double-Click the guide in the margin to the right of the text frame.
Step5. To move to the A-Cover Page master, in the Pages panel,
Double-Click A-Cover Page
Step6. To paste the guide, from the Menu bar,
Click Edit, Click Paste in Place
Step7. To move to page 1, in the Pages panel,
Step8. Select the "In this issue" frame with the Selection tool.
Step9. To cut the frame,
Step10. Move to A-Cover Page master.
Step11. Paste the frame onto the A-Cover Page master.
Step12. Move the frame into place in the third column, so that the top of the frame is aligned to the Ruler Guide.
Assigning Master Object Text Wrap
Now that we have placed the "In this issue" frame on the master, we can reuse the master every time we create a new issue of the newsletter.
Before we move onto page 1, we want to make sure that the text wrap of this frame works on all pages to which is applied.
Step1. To activate the frame, with the Selection tool, if necessary,
Click the "In this issue" frame
Step2. To open the Text Wrap pane, on the keyboard, press;
Control key+Alt key+w
Step3. To ensure that the frame's text wrap follows it onto pages to which it is applied, in the Text Wrap panel,
Step4. Make sure that "Apply to Master Page Only" is not checked.
NOTE: Depending on your computer's setup, by default this option may be unchecked or checked. In this case, the option should not be checked.
Step5. Move to page 1 of the document.
