Set up and use IUAnyWare on a desktop or laptop

Windows and macOS

Install Citrix Workspace app

Windows

Notes:

Follow these instructions to download and install the latest supported version of Citrix Workspace app. UITS does not support the use of any other version.
Your computer should be running Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Use the browser of your choice to install Citrix Workspace app and launch IUanyWare.
The correct IUanyWare URL is https://iuanyware.iu.edu; to avoid misleading warning messages, always use the https:// prefix for a secure connection.

To install the UITS-supported version of Citrix Workspace app:

Go to Citrix Workspace app for Windows.
Make sure your device's OS is compatible with the app, and then download the installer.
Select the installer to run it.
Leave Enable Single Sign-on unchecked.
Leave Add Account unchecked. Proceed to Launch IUanyWare applications, below.

macOS

Notes:

Follow these instructions to download and install the latest supported version of Citrix Workspace app. UITS does not support the use of any other version.
For supported versions of macOS, see Prerequisites to install Citrix Workspace app.
Use the browser of your choice to install Citrix Workspace app and launch IUanyWare.
The correct IUanyWare URL is https://iuanyware.iu.edu; to avoid misleading warning messages, always use the https:// prefix for a secure connection.

To install the UITS-supported version of Citrix Workspace app:

Go to Citrix Workspace App for Mac.
- For Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and M2 chip), download the app from Citrix Workspace App for macOS - Native support for Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 and M2 Series).
The site will auto-detect your operating system, and provide a link to download the appropriate installer. Select the link to download the installer.
A new Citrix page will open. Double-click the *.dmg download, and then click to install Citrix.
Follow the installation instructions.
Leave Add Account unchecked. Proceed to Launch IUanyWare applications, below.

Launch IUanyWare applications

To launch an application or desktop in IUanyWare:

Log into IUanyWare.
If prompted, including when launching applications, select Open Citrix Workspace Launcher. Select remember my choice for Citrix Workspace Launcher to avoid being prompted each time.
If prompted, select Always allow storefront.iuanyware.iu.edu to open links of this type in the associated app. Select Open Citrix Workspace Launcher.
On the "Welcome" screen:
- If you have Citrix Workspace app installed, select Detect Receiver.
  - In some cases, after you select Detect Receiver, you may need to select Already installed.
- If you don't have the app and don't want to install it, select Use light version.
You'll land on your HOME tab, from which you can access your favorites.
Select the APPS or DESKTOPS tab, and then select the icon of the desktop or app you wish to launch.

Switch between Citrix Workspace app (on local device) and the Workspace app for Web

You can switch between using your machine's Citrix Workspace app and the Workspace app for Web (the "light version").

At the top right, select the gear icon, and then choose Account Settings.
Select Change Citrix Workspace app.
- To use the Citrix Workspace app installed on your machine, select Detect Citrix Workspace app.
- To use Citrix Workspace app for Web, select Use light version.

Add or remove favorites

To add a favorite in IUanyWare:

On the APPS or DESKTOPS tab, locate an application you'd like to place in your favorites.
Select the star at the top left.

To remove an application or desktop from your favorites:

On the HOME tab, locate the application or desktop you'd like to remove from your favorites.
Select the star at the top left.

Search in IUanyWare

To search for anything in IUanyWare, select the magnifying glass at the top right of the IUanyWare Storefront and fill in the search field. All apps and desktops that match your search terms will display.

The following section contains instructions for installing Citrix Workspace on a Linux desktop or laptop.

Use the Citrix Workspace App

If you need the full functionality of the Citrix Workspace App, follow the steps below to download, install, and configure it.

Notes:

If you choose to set up the Citrix Workspace App, it's best to have the Duo Mobile app installed on a smartphone or tablet, as the Workspace App will automatically attempt to send a push. You cannot use a token for Two-Step Login when configuring the Citrix Workspace App.
The Linux configuration may change from time to time. For the latest known issues, see Known issues with IUanyWare.

Download and install the Citrix Workspace App

To download and install the Citrix Workspace App:

Go to https://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/linux/workspace-app-for-linux-latest.html.
Scroll down to "Available Downloads" and select the appropriate Workspace App for your computer.
UITS recommends that you download the appropriate debian package under "Full Packages (Self-Service Support)". Open the downloaded file in the software installer. There is no need to add a store to the app.

Launch IUanyWare applications

To launch an application or desktop in IUanyWare:

Log into IUanyWare.
On the "Welcome" screen:
- If you have the Citrix Workspace App installed, click Detect Receiver. If the "Launch Application" window appears, be sure to select Citrix Workspace Launcher. Check Remember my choice for receiver links, and then click Open link.
  - In some cases, after you click Detect Receiver, you may need to click Already installed.
- If you don't have the Citrix Workspace App installed and don't want to install it, click Use light version.
You'll land on your HOME tab, from which you can access your favorites.
Select the APPS or DESKTOPS tab, and then click the icon of the desktop or app you wish to launch.

When you first access IUanyWare or try to open an IUanyWare application, you may encounter the following error message:

SSL error message

To correct this error, you need to make additional root certs available to Citrix:

Run the following commands in the Terminal:

sudo ln -s /etc/ssl/certs/* 
/opt/Citrix/ICAClient/keystore/cacerts

After running the script above, run the following command in the Terminal:
```
sudo /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/util/ctx_rehash
```

You may now relaunch the app.

The following section contains instructions for installing Citrix Workspace on ChromeOS.

Chrome OS devices

On Chrome OS devices (such as Chromebooks):

Go to the Web Store and search for "Citrix Workspace". Make sure to select the app offered by Citrix Systems Inc, and install it. Once it's installed, open the app.
In the "Store URL" field, type https://iuanyware.iu.edu, and then select Connect:.
Select IUanyWare Login, then log in with your IU username and passphrase, and then complete a Two-Step Login (Duo).
You will land on your HOME tab. Select the APPS or DESKTOPS tab to see other published options.

Add or remove favorites on your Chrome OS device

To add a favorite in IUanyWare:

On the APPS or DESKTOPS tab, locate an application you'd like to place in your favorites.
Click the star at the top left.

To remove an application or desktop from your favorites:

On the HOME tab, locate the application or desktop you'd like to remove from your favorites.
Click the star at the top left.
