Now that the voice-over clips are in place, we'll trim the ends of the corresponding dance video clips so that they’re not too much longer than the accompanying voice-over. We’ll do this using the Ripple Edit tool, to ensure we don’t have any gaps between the video clips. Using the Ripple Edit tool will also ensure that the voice-over clips stay in place in relation to the video clips.
When trimming the ends of the video clips, you may want to watch each clip close to the end of the corresponding audio clip and try to trim the clip where the dancers are finishing a move.
This section has less guidance than previous sections in the course. If you’d like a step-by-step video walkthrough of the solution to the exercise, watch the video On Your Own: Trimming the Ends of the Video Clips.
- Switch back to the Editing workspace, and activate the Selection tool.
- Move the playhead to the end of w.mp3.
- Preview the waltz.mp4 clip from this frame to the beginning of the next clip several times, and find a spot where you would be comfortable trimming the clip.
- Move the playhead to that frame on the timeline.
- Use the Ripple Edit tool to trim the end of the video to the desired frame.
- Repeat steps a-d to trim the clips tango.mp4, chacha.mp4, and swing.mp4.
- Save the project.
